The Blogus series of illustrated short stories uses the blog entry idea as a means of building up a story over time with well-known characters as the main subjects. The first in the series is 'A Truth Universally Acknowledged - The Secret Blog of Mary Bennet.' This rather saucy take on Pride and Prejudice was published at a website for devotees of Jane Austen and caused quite a stir amongst this global community of Janeites! To check out their comments click here. Then take a look at the story and see for yourself what all the fuss was about. The second in the series is 'Rock 'n' Roll Suicide - The Secret Blog of Ziggy Stardust.' It's set in 2007; Ziggy's alive and ill and living in a bed-sit in Battersea, his mind so screwed on pills and booze that he can't tell his arse from his alter-ego. It's a short story written the way only Ziggy knows how, as a songbook so if you like your prose lyrical and your grooves smooth, this could be one for you. The third in the series is 'Extracts - The Spoof Blog of an Award-winning Comedy Writer and Performer.' Unlike the subjects of the first two in the series, the subject of this Blogus is alive and well and clearly living in fear of his reputation. I asked this person for their permission to publish the story on my site (to avoid having my arse sued to high heaven.) Unfortunately, permission was denied for fear, in their words, the media would mistake the blog as real (!!!). Being a nice person/scaredy-cat (delete as applicable) I rewrote the story to respect the person's wishes and preserve their anonymity. I therefore leave it to your imagination to decide the identity of the mystery 'blogger.' A prize awaits anyone who emails me with the correct answer... The fourth in the Blogus series is 'The Evil that Mr Men Do', which attempts to reinvent the children’s story genre for an adult audience. In this story it's the turn of the Mr Men and Little Misses to be blogussed, the creation of children's writer Roger Hargreaves. It's a story with lashings of indecency and plenty of oh-I-say! immorality so a book your parents would surely have confiscated.
Remember, the stories are written as a blog so the latest or last Blogus entry is what you see first. To read the story from the start in the view mode, click on the first or earliest entry in the Archive entries - active Blogus box and then work your way through them till you get to the latest or last entry. If this is all too confusing then just open the story as a PDF and read it that way, although you will miss out on the pictures comin' atcha in glorious Technicolor of course.
